Our Story: Two Brothers, One Spark

Every candle we pour carries a bit of the evening that started it all — two brothers, a kitchen table, and a scent that stopped a conversation mid-sentence.

Luméa Lights was never meant to be a candle company. It was started by two brothers who simply loved building things — both of them restless, both of them stubborn enough to keep trying even after a few ventures that never quite found their footing. Nothing dramatic went wrong; the ideas just didn't have the spark yet. That's how it goes before you find the right one.

The elder brother has always been the one who can turn his hand to almost anything — the kind of person who teaches himself a new craft on a weekend, cooks like it's second nature, and can't leave a half-finished idea alone. So when he came across candle making almost by accident, it barely registered as anything more than a passing curiosity. He mentioned it to his younger brother, who, if we're honest, didn't take it seriously at all. Another one of his projects, they both probably thought.

Except the next day, he showed up with a candle he'd made himself.

That was the moment the joke stopped being a joke. If a first, rough attempt made at a kitchen table could feel like that, what could it become with real care behind it? The two brothers looked at each other and, for the first time in a while, agreed instantly: this was worth building properly.

Why soy, why us

From the very beginning, this wasn't going to be a candle made just to sell. The brothers cared about what they were putting into people's homes — and what that meant for the planet those homes sit on. Paraffin was the cheaper, easier route, but it's a petroleum by-product, heavier on soot, and not something they wanted to hand-deliver to families and call it self-care. So they chose 100% natural soy wax instead: renewable, biodegradable, cleaner-burning, and a good deal kinder to anyone breathing the same room. Health-conscious, planet-conscious — not a marketing line, just the standard they held themselves to from day one.

Lead-free cotton wicks. Small batches. Nothing poured until it's right. That first candle set the bar, and every one since has had to clear it.

And now, here we are

What began as one brother's curiosity and the other's reluctant second glance is now Luméa Lights — hand-poured, small-batch soy candles made with the same care as that very first one on the kitchen table. We're still two brothers who'd rather get something right than get it out fast, still chasing the feeling of that first scent that stopped the room.
